January 20, 2020 changed the Bryants and five other families forever, for on that fateful day Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others were tragically killed in a helicopter crash. Once Nike got their orange heads out of their keysters and did right by the Bryant family, a commemorative Nike Zoom Kobe VI in honor of Kobe and Gigi was released ( which unfortunately many who wanted them was unable to acquire them). Following tin the outsoles of that sneaker will be this Zoom Kobe IV, which is dedicated to Gigi Bryant.
Vanessa Bryant gave the world the best look at this upcoming sneaker on her Instagram Friday afternoon. It sports a white upper with an embroidered black Swoosh on the lateral side, with a tesselated pattern seen peeking out past the edge of the external heel counter. On the rear heel “Gigi”, which was her nickname, and a golden “2”, which was her jersey number , can be seen.
The sneakers will come housed in special packaging emblazoned with a commemorative Mambacita logo on the outside, inside and the packing papers.
The “Mambacita” Nike Zoom Kobe IV Protro is anticipated to release on May 1, which would have been Gigi’s 17th birthday. Proceeds will go to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation. Let us hope the people that actually want these sneakers will be able to get them and that a large swath of the stock willnot end up on retail sites by lunchtime on May for inflated prices.
